This is a stunning album, one of my favorites of the decade. Each time I listen, I'm struck by how the lyrics are heart-breakingly honest. They're not just about the end of a relationship. They're also about those moments when you chuck your pride aside in a pathetic attempt to salvage the unsalvageable. Anyone can write a song about a break up. But not many are willing to tackle those dark, weak moments that, years later, you want to erase from your memory. And I completely agree, not only are the lyrics and their delivery fabulous, but the music is the perfect accompaniment. The last minute of "Keep Yourself Warm" is the sound of someone tearing themselves apart the morning after a one-night-stand and realizing the pain, disappointment, and unhappiness were not driven away by a brief, cheap encounter.
If you have not already, BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!
